Hello, I am a K-6 certified elementary teacher for the state of North Carolina with 24 years teaching experience. I graduated from UNC Charlotte with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Child and Adolescent Psychology. I am trained in the Wilson Program, which uses multisensory language instruction, and is based on the Orton-Gillingham principles. I am PBIS certified (positive behavioral interventions and support). I have received training on how to help children with learning disabilities such as Autism. I taught in CMS for over ten years while tutoring students after school, and I worked as a camp counselor at the YMCA.
After my son was born, I continued my private tutoring and worked part time as a substitute teacher in Iredell-Statesville, Gaston, and Cabarrus County Schools. This gave me the opportunity to learn about different educational programs and school systems in the state of North Carolina. My passion has always been to help children succeed, and I feel that one-on-one individualized instruction is the key to that success! My second grade teacher inspired me, and since then I have had a great desire to help young children in their quest for learning.
